Astral Wetlands

Stacked islands of reeds, willows and glowing pools, all fed by Astral Water.

Version: 0.1.0-pre-alpha

The Wetlands climb in tiers, each level with its own basins and creeks of Astral Water. The water gives off light, so the pools glow teal under the low fog, and it does not babble like a stream; it hums like a distant choir. Tidewillows lean over the banks, Glassroot grows in the shallows and Tideleaf pads float on the surface.

Life here is loud and small. Toads in four colours and three sizes hop from leaf to leaf and call to one another across the water, a few with candles burning on their backs. Ripplebacks fade into the colour of the ground they sit on, Pearlclams breathe on the pool beds, Mosskippers glide between the trees and Astral Squids drift through the air above.

Watch the mud, though. The Swamp Dweller rises out of it right behind you, and below the Wetlands, past Cavemaws and Blighted Toads, the Toad Prince waits in his cave.
