A Cavemaw does nothing at all until you come near. Then it opens its mouth, unfolds four legs and calls out once before it starts to hunt you, slowly.

From a few blocks away it fixes you, marks a straight line on the ground and shoots its tongue along it. Step off the line. The Toad Prince's tongue works the same way and shows the same colour.
