Listen near the pools and sooner or later one toad croaks. Then another answers, and another, a slow chorus rolling across the water while Glowbell blooms light up with each call. On rare toads a little candle flickers in time with the song.

Toads hop onto Tideleaf leaves on purpose, and the leaves tip under them after a moment, faster under a giant toad than a small one. Their tongues snap up Driftseed seeds. When something threatens them, they puff themselves up and hop away.

A candle goes out when its toad swims too long, dives or takes a hard hit, and it relights on its own once the toad is back on land. Colour, size and candle all pass on to the young, which grow from spawn through tadpoles.
