Few sights in the Astral Sea are as quiet as a Starwhale passing overhead. It glides without hurry through a wide territory, turns aside before islands and sometimes sings; if another whale is near, it answers. Glowing plants sparkle as its shadow slides over them.

Stand directly beneath one and the Astral Shelter catches you: you fall slowly for as long as you stay under the whale, which can save a misjudged jump. During calm flights a Starwhale sometimes lets a Veil Pearl drop. Killing one never gives you a pearl.

A whale only fights to defend itself, with a sweep of its tail, a resonance pulse around its body and a short rush forward. Leave it alone for a little while and it calms down again.
