Crimson Ice Seal

Small groups live on the ice and around the Astral Water pools. They stretch their heads up and call, scratch their bellies, roll on their backs, shake out their fur after a swim and nudge each other. And sometimes one takes a run-up, drops onto its belly and slides across a flat stretch of ice. It checks the whole path first and brakes at once if the ice ends; red ice makes it fast, astral ice long and gentle.

You can climb onto an adult with an empty hand and ride along, but you cannot steer: the otter picks a safe slide on its own, or stays where it is if there is none. Young otters cannot be ridden, and otters cannot be tamed.
