Your First Steps
Learning goal
Astral Stone tools, Keldite and the first gear made for the dimension.
Step 01
Why your tools feel slow
Vanilla tools barely scratch the stone and ores of the Astral Sea; they mine them at a small fraction of their usual speed. The dimension wants its own tools (see Astral Adaptation).
Step 02
Astral Stone tools
Mine some stone and craft your first tools from Pale Cobblestone, Cobbled Avelite or Cobbled Shroomstone with sticks, exactly like stone tools.

Step 03
Find Keldite
Keldite is the iron of the dimension and common in the stone of every biome. Smelt the raw ore in a furnace or blast furnace.

Step 04
A Keldite Bucket
Three Keldite Ingots make the only bucket that can hold Astral Water. Make one early.

Good to know
- Trying to mine astral stone with vanilla tools.
- Using an ordinary bucket on Astral Water.
