Three or four caps on short stems, no face, no legs: that is all you see until you step too close. Then the caps start to tremble and creak. That is the moment to back off, because next the Mimic Mycelium unfolds onto four short legs, shows its glowing eyes and pounces.

The leap does not steer once it has started, so a quick sidestep makes it miss. Up close it lashes out and slows you briefly. Badly hurt, it retreats, and it only hides again once no one is watching. Myclings and Spore Beetles flee the moment one wakes up. In the Fractured Heights it takes on a darker, fractured form.
