A Magma Brute is slow, but its fists are not. Up close it punches hard. When you stay near, it raises both fists while its core and cracks flare, sparks fly and the ground rumbles, and then it slams them down: everything around it is hurt and thrown back.

That wind-up is your signal to get out of its reach. After a slam it needs a few seconds before it can do it again, which is the moment to strike.
