Common Runestone

Common runes are the dimension's everyday magic. Place an engraving material on the Inscription Table instead of a scroll and it decides the rune: Astral Dust for Astral Spark, a Red Crystal Shard for Resonant Fracture, Duskcaps for False Cap, a Spore Moss Block for Fungal Reprisal. The material is used up.

Astral Spark (sword) makes every fourth hit on the same foe arc into up to three enemies nearby for 2 damage each. Resonant Fracture (sword) delays an enemy's visible wind-up by a second, though bosses shrug it off. False Cap (armour) hides you: sneak still in grass, flowers or on soil and enemies more than 6 blocks away lose track of you. Fungal Reprisal (armour) answers two hits within 5 seconds with a spore wave that slows the enemies around you. A common rune goes into the first slot.
