Astral Deer are watchful long before you are close. They lift their heads, follow you with their eyes and bound away in long, light leaps the moment you break into a sprint. Move slowly, or sneak, and they let you come surprisingly near.

The true gift of a deer shows when it rests. A warm glow spreads from it, the Golden Bloom: flowers and grass nearby light up, and some of them grow. Now and then a resting deer also sheds a Golden Antler, which no hunter will ever get by killing one. On rare occasions a herd gathers in one place, and their antlers pulse in time.

A deer never starts a fight. It only answers the one who hurt it, or lashes out with its antlers when it is cornered.
