A Rotburster is slow, slower than a zombie, and it knows it. It does not need to catch you, only to get close. Once it is a few blocks away it stops, and for a couple of seconds you can watch and hear it swell. That is your window: back off far enough and it calls the burst off, or kill it before it pops, which prevents the explosion entirely.

If it does burst, the blast hurts most at its centre, leaves a poison cloud for a few seconds and makes you Caustic. It never damages blocks, and one Rotburster bursting will not set off another.

Attacks

  • Swells for 2.5 s once about 3 blocks away; back off past 5 blocks to cancel.

  • Burst

    damage falling off towards the edge, Caustic, a poison cloud for 3 s. No block damage.
