The Penitent wears red, glows green, and carries a sword and a lantern. As long as the candle on its head burns, nothing can hurt it, and the crypt itself is the key to putting it out.

It answers with everything the fortress taught you: the coloured lantern cones of the spirits, skulls that hunt you through the crypt and a trick that moves you where it wants you.

Phases

Head Candle
while it burns, the Penitent cannot be hurt.
Lure it into an active wind tornado to blow it out.
Wind Tornadoes
two of the four tornado points whirl up at a time, taking turns.
Lantern Cone
a blue, red or green cone with the matching soul effect.
Step out of the cone.
Spectral Skulls
three skulls circle it, then drift after you one by one and burst on contact.
Lure them into a tornado.
Teleport
it moves itself or a player elsewhere in the crypt and holds them for a moment.
Grave Candles
once, at half health, the eight candles along the wall light up and it turns invulnerable and faster.
Use right-click on each candle to put it out.
