Spiteful Larvae leave it behind as they slowly turn the caustic stone porous, Sulgills drop it, and the chests on the slopes hold it. Nine make a Block of Caustic Deposits, and the block turns back into nine.
Its real worth is the Caustic Filter: four deposits, two Iron Bars, two Keldite Ingots and a Glass Bottle make a filter that keeps the gas of the slopes away from you and everyone near you. Carry a few spare deposits; they refill the filter at an anvil.
